The hotel is located in the charming conservation village of Port Charlotte on a beach-side location with stunning sea views. The village was built in whitewashed stone in 1828 by Walter Frederick Campbell (The Laird of Islay) and named after his mother, Lady Charlotte.

The front part of the hotel was built in 1829 as 3 cottages, before it was transformed into a hotel.

Convenient for all the best Islay visitor attractions and activities, including the 8 Islay malt whisky distilleries, great golf at the Machrie, and some of the best bird watching and wildlife watching in Scotland.

With only 10 rooms our little jewel amongst hotels in Islay, provides individual attention for our guests’ unique needs.

With an à la carte restaurant serving only the very best of local produce, expertly prepared and presented, we also serve excellent bar lunches and evening bar meals in our cosy bar and conservatory.

The hotel is recommended in Michelin & Good Food Guides and is highly rated in the Best of Scotland Guide. We hold a Taste our Best Certificate awarded by Visit Scotland.

Our residents' lounge and public bar feature open fires where guests can unwind with convivial company. Local musicians play regularly in the bar.

Throughout the hotel enjoy an excellent art collection amongst the plethora of memorabilia - with a distinct leaning to 'The Glasgow School' of artists.
